DON’T CONVERT DEAD JEWS, MORMONS, OR ELSE!

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said Monday it removed the name of a Nazi war crimes hunter from its vast genealogical database.

Simon Wiesenthal’s name was removed at the request of the Wiesenthal Center, an international Jewish human rights organization.

Posthumous baptism is a sacred rite practiced in Mormon temples to offer membership in the church to the deceased. Church members often conduct family genealogy research and forward their ancestors’ names for baptism.

But Jews are offended by the practice and in 1995 signed an agreement with Mormon leaders that should have prevented the names of Holocaust victims from being added to the genealogical index. The agreement would also have limited entries of other Jewish names to those persons who are direct ancestors of current Mormons.

Church spokesman Bruce Olsen issued a statement Monday evening saying Wiesenthal’s name was immediately removed from the genealogical index and that no proxy-baptism had been performed for the Jewish civil rights leader. Wiesenthal survived a dozen Nazi camps, then dedicated himself to tracking down Nazi war criminals.

Rabbi Marvin Hier, the Wiesenthal Center’s founder, said he was pleased the Mormon church acted quickly.

Long ago, the LDS Church agreed to not do proxy work for victims of the Holocoust. However, every so often a story appears about someone who slipped through the cracks and was initiated Mormon temple rites posthumously. The reality is that enforcement of such a rule is very, very difficult. The Church cannot feasibly screen every name, and can only ask compliance of its members. But such a request will inevitably fail at some point either by ignorance on the part of those doing temple work, or unfortunately those who defy the rule and proceed with work anyway. The Jewish community should understand that the Church has done all that it can to prevent the violation of the holocoust rule, and when violated, has always immediately fixed the problem.

Police say man bragged about fatal shooting

He saw the result of his handiwork in the newspaper and couldn’t wait to share the news, police said.

But when Jarmavis Dixon allegedly bragged to an acquaintance that he had killed a man, waving a copy of the victim’s obituary, he handed police one more piece of evidence that has now landed him in jail on murder charges.

Dixon, 23, and Ronregus Watts, 19, were arrested this week when they used their victim’s credit card to withdraw money to bail out a friend from jail, police said.

“[Dixon] seems to have no remorse about it,” College Park police Capt. Ron Fears said Friday. “In my 27 years, I have not seen a man less fazed about a crime than him.”

The victim, Thomas R. Vinson, 59, was a retired Delta Air Lines employee who had grown up on Hardin Avenue, the street where he was fatally shot Dec. 22. Vinson had finished working on a house — one of several he owned on the street, and rented out to Delta pilots. He was leaving to return to his Fayetteville home when two men accosted him.

Police said one of the men fatally shot Vinson, then robbed him of his wallet and took off in his Chevrolet pickup while he lay dying outside the home’s garage.

Police immediately put out a “flag” on Vinson’s credit cards. Should the attackers use the cards, they would be alerted.

the US is being transformed into a third-world cesspool. This should be no surprise. A recent former military intelligence analyst told me, “There currently exists a third-world invasion of America. From this writer’s perspective the absolute best thing to come out of the Presidency of George W. Bush is the fact that so many liberal Democrats have changed their position on gun control. It’s as if the scales were lifted from their eyes, they realized that government itself could no longer be trusted, they witnessed the election of 2000 hijacked, and four years later they saw the same thing happen again without nary a word of dissent from the Democratic candidates. Former gun grabbers in the hundreds of thousands no longer feel the intense desire to disarm their fellow citizens in the name of a better society, in fact many of them have since armed themselves and joined gun clubs and gun lobbies. Good for them. These liberal Democrats now understand the true nature and purpose of the Second Amendment, it was never designed to enable us to obtain wild game whenever and wherever we liked, it was always about being able to defend ourselves from a corrupt and evil ! government.
