Driver In Pontiac Crash Has Long Record
Police Say Man Was Drag Racing

PONTIAC, Mich. — A man charged with seriously injuring two people while allegedly drag racing down a Pontiac street has lengthy driving record,
Local 4 reported.

Records show that Jose Carcamo has amassed 17 violations since 1995, according to the station. Pontiac police said that Carcamo’s car crashed into Tricia Ann Taylor, 17, of Clarkston, and Noah Menard, 20, of Pontiac as they walked to Menard’s car after a concert Saturday at the Arts, Beats and Eats festival.

Police said that the car hit them going approximately 50 mph to 70 mph.

Taylor was severely injured after being pinned against the exterior of a building. She had both her legs amputated as a result.

Menard’s skull and collarbone were fractured, his elbow mangled, requiring surgery and the insertion of eight pins. His face was cut, and he suffered various abrasions from being dragged along the pavement.

Menard said he is devastated and angry. He said Taylor was just overcoming the loss of a boyfriend who died in May after a motorcycle accident that involved a drunken driver.

Carcamo, a native of Ecuador, is being held in the Oakland County Jail. He is charged with two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol causing serious injury. The felony offense carries a sentence of up to five years in prison.
