Yes, that seems to be more-or-less the case, as I understand it anyway. Being sent to the giggle house kept Pound out of hard time at Leavenworth. (Not sure if he really and truly faced the death penalty). But the plan seems to have backfired – Pound spent more time there than he probably imagined and it also discredited his views.

It’s much the same disgraceful treatment that was meted out to Knut Hamsun, the great Norwegian novelist and Nobel winner (back when that prize meant something) who became a non-person in Norway after the war. He was dragged through the courts, heavily fined and reduced to penury, declared mentally incompetent, and his wife harassed outrageously –thus ruining their marriage. (His intimate relationship with his wife was even spied on and there was nothing too low for the Leftists to stoop to in their attempts to smear him; they were utterly unprincipled and vicious!) He never gave in or groveled, however.

I mentioned both Pound and Hamsun to an “educated” young German with whom I had a lengthy conversation last year. His eyes went blank. He never heard of either one. Not surprising.

A week after Hitler’s death, Hamsun wrote a eulogy for Hitler, one day before surrender of the German occupation forces in Norway — saying, “He was a warrior for mankind, and a prophet of the gospel of justice for all nations.”

The Danish author Thorkild Hansen investigated the trial and wrote (1978) , among other things, “If you want to meet idiots, go to Norway”, as he felt that such treatment of an old man was outrageous.

I was reading the other day the biog. of Kirsten Flagstad, the great Norwegian singer, considered the greatest Wagnerian soprano of the 20th century. Her husband, a lumberman, was a member of the Quisling government and had business dealings with the Germans.

During the war years, she returned to live in Norway instead in exile, to be with her husband, though she had nothing to do with politics herself. Nonetheless, she was harassed and boycotted after the war.

When Flagstad returned to the United States for a 1947 tour, veterans’ groups mounted demonstrations against her. A particularly ugly incident took place in Philadelphia, where Flagstad was pelted with stink bombs and rotting vegetables.

In a conciliatory gesture, she performed several benefit concerts for the United Jewish Appeal. By the early 1950s, as Flagstad began to say her farewells to performing, all was forgiven.

Apparently, what it took to appease Jewish anger was money. That, more than anything else, soothes all hard feelings. Fladstad gave in and bowed to Jewish power, while Hamsun did not.

Knut Hamsun was a true Aryan Patriot as was V. Quisling. Unfortunately, the jews have made the word “quisling” synonomous with “traitor”.
