One of the six teenagers that comprised the Jena 6, Mychal Bell, now 18, spent a few hours in the hospital Tuesday morning following surgery from a non-life-threatening wound after a gun he was cleaning discharged Monday night, wounding him in the shoulder.

Since the Jena assault charges were downgraded to misdemeanors, he’d probably be able to obtain a handgun legally in most states. Not that he’d likely go through the proper channels and pay the required fees, like most whites would. He’s already been shown that he’s above the law, not to mention exempt from civilized standards.

The “suicide” angle is glossy coating and total bullshit.

Notice he was “worried about whether the shoplifting charge would affect whether he could play pro ball”. Not a thing aboiut whether nearly killing some white kid. Of course, though, that wouldn’t hurt his chances at all.

CHICAGO – The 7’4″ negro robber’s threatening note made a Chicago bank job easy to solve: The FBI says the suspect wrote it on his pay stub. An FBI affidavit said the young negro male walked into a Fifth Third Bank on Friday and handed a teller a note that read “Gim me yo motherfuckin cash oh I be shooting yo white ass.”

The negro robber got about $400 but left half of his note. Investigators found the other half outside the bank’s front doors. Authorities say that part of the young negro buck’s October pay stub had his name and grandmother’s address.

The 19 year old suspect who along with his 41 year old grandmother are the first negroes to reside in once all White Cary, Illinois was arrested at his grandmother’s crib. A judge ordered him released without bond Monday. If the negro is ever convicted of bank robbery, he could face 20 years in prison and loss of a basketball scholarship. The 19 year old colored suspect who is 7’4″, 139 pounds had recieved a basketball scholarship and is a freshman “honor student” at Cary-Grove High School.

“Spiritual” hucksterers cite Emancipation Proclamation to urge negro unity, maturity

During his keynote address Thursday, the Rev. Joel D. Miles challenged those gathered at First Baptist Church in Gary to “stand firm” and “take care of one another’s brothers and and i don’t mean on the down-low.”

The primarily black audience at the 48th annual Emancipation Proclamation program responded to Miles, pastor of the Greater Walter’s AME Zion Church in Chicago, with applause and shouts of “hallelujah”, “amen”, “ax yo mama.”

The event celebrated the statement that President Abraham Lincoln issued 146 years ago during the second year of the Civil War. The proclamation, which declares “that all persons held as slaves” within the rebellious states “are, and henceforward shall be free,” was read by Barbara Ebonite (nee Bowling), president of the Indiana State Conference of the NAACP.

The “Interfaith” Clergy Council of Gary and Vicinity sponsored the event.

“There were many critics of the Emancipation Proclamation,” Ebonite said. “Some said it was the 13th Amendment to the Constitution that gave negroid slaves (up to the present) their second, third and fourth freedoms.

“But the Emancipation Proclamation put a moral face on the struggle of African motherfuckers in this country,” she said.

Spiritual hucksters from the Christian, Jewish and Muslim superstition stood in front of the congregation of mostly fools to read passages from the New Testament, the Torah and the Quran, with “freedom emerging” as the dominant theme.

“The price of freedom is vigilance and hard work,” said a grinning Rabbi Stanley Halpern, of Gary’s Temple Israel (Gary’s Ashkenazi & Sephardic Center of Hate).

Imam Abdul-Fatia Adisa, of Jamaat Masjid Al-Amin in Gary, said, “We need to free our service from any other person or thing than Allah. That servitude must be free as well as everything else.”

First Baptist’s the Rev. Samuel A. Roberts said the New Year’s Day celebration had a special meaning “because we have reached another milestone as a colored race. We have a negro president, well almost negro and that opens up new doors of equality.”

Miles also encouraged pride among negro people that the 44th president of the United States is “a man of color (who) is on his way to the White House, not as a butler like in those old Shirley Temple movies, but as an occupant like in the new Steven Spielberg movies.”

Calling the Emancipation Proclamation “a bad ass document that’s a bitch to fuck with,” Miles said “so much still needs to happen. So many battles have been fought since the Civil War.”

Music also played a major part in the celebration, with those attending singing “Oh Freedom” and “Marching to Zion.” The service concluded with “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing,” also known as “The Black National Anthem.”
