1. Cymothoa exigua: Biting your tongue, so you don’t have to

When fish mommies want to strike fear in the hearts of their misbehaving fish babies, we suspect they draw on the chilling animal savagery of the Cymothoa exigua.

As a youngster, this nasty little parasitic crustacean begins a life of terror by fighting its way through the gills of its fish host of choice, the snapper.

Once there, it attaches itself to the fish’s tongue and begins feeding on the rich blood pumping through the artery underneath. As the parasite grows, it drinks more blood and eventually causes the tongue to atrophy and disintegrate.

Hi, guys:

Okay, Labor Day’s over now. Presumably you folks will start wandering back from the beach, or the lake, or Six Flags, or Narnia, or wherever it is that White people disappear to in July and August. So could we empty the little rubber pool out back, clean out the charcoal grill and put it in the garage, and could I maybe have your attention for a while before all the holiday shit starts in November?

I hope you enjoyed your Labor Day, because it may be your last one. Those of you who have been with me for a while know that nornally I am not a conspiracy theorist, a doomsayer or a Chicken Little. I have always greeted the rite-wing doomsday scenario du jour, including the fabled Y2K, with polite skepticism.

However, this time I’m worried. That drunken little moron in the White House is about to launch an unprovoked attack, possibly a nuclear attack, against Iran. He is going to do so without even the pretense of Congressional consultation this time, thus putting the final nail in what is left of the United States Constitution. This is why he recently declared the Iranian Revolutionary Guards to be a “terrorist” organization, so he can claim the attack on Iran is part of the already-authorized, boneheaded invasion of Iraq. This gives Jug-Ears and his little Jewish friends a legal fig leaf to avoid having to go to Congress for authorization to start a civilization-ending war. Needless to say, those invertebrates will do nothing about this except maybe squeal a bit, before the Democrats drop their snouts back into the trough, and the Republicans slip out to the nearest public toilet for a little fun.

Everyone knows Mini-Me is going to do this, and we’re all sitting here paralyzed, in a kind of Paris Hilton-drugged stupor. The official run-up begins on September 11th, with a massive propaganda campaign. The attack could come any time after that. There may or may not be a mega-terror attack arranged by the White House. If so, I think it’s more likely to come next spring or summer, to give Bush and Cheney and their little Jewish friends an excuse to cancel the 2008 elections. They have come to realize that they can do pretty much anything they want, and nobody’s going to stop them. Certainly not the cowardly dogs in Congress, whimpering and thumping their tails in the corner and pissing on the floor in terror of Bush and the Israel lobby.

I don’t think you folks fully understand just what $200 per barrel oil will mean to the whole fabric of Western civilization as we know it, which is based on cheap energy. Whatever job you’ve got now, you can kiss it goodbye, and good luck fighting with the Mexicans over those packages of Ramen noodles and cans of pumpkin pie mix down at the food bank.

Needless to say, the insane Iran attack will develop into a ground war, and the regime will HAVE to bring back the draft, and that’s your children’s future gone, as well as your own.

Am I alone in thinking that maybe, just maybe, we kind of need to, well, pay attention to this? Maybe even think seriously about doing something about it?

The man in charge appears to be completely insane and bent on starting a nuclear war in the Middle East, in order to make JEEEEEE-ZUS come back. (I always think the role of the Late Great Planet Earthers in this current madhouse is heavily underestimated.)

Don’t you think we ought to have some kind of plan to deal with all this? Like maybe making our own country for white people in someplace like, oh, the Pacific Northwest, and taking ourselves out of this freak show?

An emergency all-black school is to open in Dublin to cater for the children of African immigrants who have failed to secure places in the overloaded Irish education system. Mary Hanafin, the Education Minister, said that the problems in the north Dublin suburb of Balbriggan reflected bad planning amid rapid population growth, not racist attitudes at existing schools. She vowed to get the new school integrated with white students as soon as possible. “I would not like to see a situation developing where it is an all-black school, so it’s something to keep an eye on for next year’s enrolments,” Ms Hanafin said. However, the head of the organisation providing the new school said that it was a concern because demand was coming from a specific sector of Ireland’s ethnic minority. “Almost all of the people applying appear to be of black skin and that is a worrying phenomenon,” said Paul Rowe, the chief executive of Educate Together, a charity that provides an alternative to faith-based education.
